The folio size leaf, originally folded in two, contains one drawing in brown ink on one half of the leaf. On the recto and verso of the other half is written an agreement between Bernardo de Lazara and the painter Pietro Calzetta regarding the decoration of the Corpus Christi chapel in the Basilica of Sant'Antonio at Padua. "Mastro Piero" was to fresco the vault with the four Evangelists on a blue ground with "stelle d'oro fino," and to use the same colors on the marble decorations, statues and columns in that chapel, including Messer Bernardo's coat of arms. The large altarpiece was to represent a "historia" similar to the sketch copied next to the agreement text after a drawing by Nicolo Pizolo owned by Maestro Francesco Squarcione. The painter was to bear the costs of all materials (gold included), and provide a fine drapery to protect the altarpiece. The painting was to be finished by the following March and remain in good condition for 25 years, after which time the artist would be liable for damages. The clause is backed by Galeazzo Mussato's signature as guarantor. Bernardo de Lazara agrees to pay 40 ducats for the whole work, of which he gives Calzetta an advance of 10 ducats, as confirmed by the testimony of Squarcione and of Bartolomeo Sanvito.
